Lessons

Semester baru, mata kuliah baru. Yep, semester ini ada mata kuliah baru yang asing nggak asing buat gue: Basic Writing Skills. You know what? Hari pertama dosen masuk kelas buat ngasih materi, gue sudah ABSEN gara-gara telat! Hiks dah.

My days in English Department of State University of Jakarta fulfilled with unexpected things. Yes, it was unexpected things because it was my first year here. My first time to get study here.
I didn’t have any depiction about what I would study at that time. Neither did my friends.
But when I entered the first class, I realized that everything would be different in here. No more seat mate, because everyone could be your seat mate. And no need to bring many books, particularly notebooks, because you could record any subject’s notes in a notebook. And one more thing which is very different: you have to move into another class to get another subject from another lecturer.
Those significant alterations made me realized that here we are not only taught English, education, and other materials, but also discipline and independence. And that to survive here, I have to change my habit when I was in my Senior (Vocational) High School.
In the first semester, I thought I didn’t do well. But I was so surprised when I knew that I got adequate result for all subjects. Perhaps it was because I got interesting lecturers for this semester.
But I got a bad luck for my second semester. My score got decreased for almost all subjects, but one: Basic Listening 2. I got a better score for this subject.
Yes, I know that I cannot judge whether it was the lecturers’ fault. The fault is absolutely mine. And if I want to get a better result for this semester, I have to keep up my discipline, independence, and hard work. It will be my other lesson. | @MutiaRKinasih |
